The Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) has selected Engineering Outreach as a graduate program that meets the needs of U.S. military students. Services available to students in the U.S. military include:
Tuition benefits
University of Idaho programs are approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and students may use GI benefits or tuition assistance to help pay their Engineering Outreach course fees. Active duty personnel should contact their base education offices about the possibility of receiving tuition assistance to cover some of their course fees. Tuition assistance forms must be approved and sent to Engineering Outreach prior to enrollment. If students are responsible for a portion of the fees, payment is due at the beginning of the semester.
GI Bill benefits are available to students who have completed at least two years of military duty, although they may not receive GI Bill and tuition assistance benefits at the same time. The University of Idahos Office of Veteran Affairs assists active duty personnel, veterans, dependents, reservists, and national guardsmen who are eligible for educational benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Students expecting to receive veterans benefits must apply for these benefits, and should contact the Office of Veterans Affairs at least six weeks before the beginning of each semester. Exam proctoring
Most military base education offices provide exam proctoring services to students in distance learning programs. They usually have a set schedule for times available for testing, and students make appointments to take each exam.
Course delivery to students overseas
Students who are assigned to duty overseas are not charged extra for course delivery as long as they have an APO or FPO address. Students who change addresses during the semester should give Engineering Outreach a weeks notice to insure uninterrupted course delivery. Course media are shipped weekly by Priority mail to APO/FPO addresses.
