University of Idaho Library services are available to Engineering Outreach students via the University of Idaho Library Web site.

A library ID number (14-digit barcode number) is required to borrow materials and access the subscription databases. Visit Library Cards for information. To request a barcode, submit the Off Campus Barcode Request Form. Your barcode does not expire as long as you are enrolled in a course and the barcode is in active use. Contact Access Services at the phone number listed above, or send e-mail to libill@uidaho.edu, to check on the status of your barcode.

Outreach students may search the library databases for journal articles at Finding Articles or Journal List on the library Web site. Many of these articles are now available online. If you cannot access full-text online (i.e., you can only read a citation and/or an abstract), this means the library has only a print version of the journal, or the journal is not part of the library's collection. If this occurs, you may request a copy of the journal article by submitting an Interlibrary Loan form. The library will send you a copy via VandalMail.  Students should contact the library at libref@uidaho.edu, if they encounter any problems accessing electronic journals or articles.

Outreach students may also borrow books from the UI Library by looking in the catalog at www.lib.uidaho.edu, and clicking on "request" at the top of the page. If the library does not own the book, it may be possible to get it through interlibrary loan.

The library will ship books directly to students at no charge, although students must pay for return shipping. Students are responsible for returning books by the designated due date, which may require shipping the materials via UPS, Fed Ex, or Priority Mail. Books not received by the due date will accrue late fees that will be posted on the student's UI account.

Visit FAQs about Library Services for Distance Education for more information.

UI Disability Support Services
UI's Disability Support Services (DSS) provides academic support services to students with temporary or permanent disabilities. Students requesting disability-related accommodations should contact DSS directly, either by e-mail or phone, and must provide appropriate disability documentation.

Instructors of some courses delivered through Engineering Outreach may require student participation in synchronous or asynchronous Web discussions. If your course has requirements you are unable to fulfill without accommodation, please contact DSS as soon as possible. Students must recertify their disabilities with DSS each semester.
